2-Chloro-6-methoxy-benzaldehyde is an enantiopure compound that is a reactive and efficient epoxidizing agent. It has been shown to catalyze the epoxidation of alkenes with hydrogen peroxide, yielding the corresponding epoxides in high yield and enantiomeric purity. The catalytic activity of 2-chloro-6-methoxybenzaldehyde is due to its ability to act as a porphyrin and undergo electron transfer reactions. This compound also has catalase activity, which can be used for the removal of hydrogen peroxide from organic solutions.
