4-Chloro-3-methoxybenzaldehyde is a chemical compound that belongs to the group of halogenated phenols. It is used as an intermediate in the synthesis of other chemicals. The 2-chloro-5-methylphenol moiety can be removed from 4-chloro-3-methoxybenzaldehyde by hydrolysis with hydrochloric acid, which leaves behind 4-chloro-3,5-dimethoxybenzaldehyde. This product has affinity for dopamine receptors and may be used to study the functions of these receptors in striatal tissue.
