1-Chloro-4-fluorobenzene is a chemical compound that belongs to the group of halogenated aromatic hydrocarbons. It consists of a benzene ring with one chlorine atom and one fluorine atom attached, forming a single bond. The structural formula is represented by the letter C6H5ClF. 1-Chloro-4-fluorobenzene has been shown to be effective in enhancing the rates of reactions involving chloride ions. It has been used as an intermediate for the production of other compounds, such as covidimidine, which was developed during the pandemic to combat influenza A (H1N1). 1-Chloro-4-fluorobenzene reacts with nitroaromatic compounds and hydrogen chloride to form 1,2,3,4-tetrahydronaphtalene and hydrogen fluoride. This reaction can be observed by electron spin resonance spectroscopy.
