2-Chloro-5-fluoroaniline is an antimicrobial agent that belongs to the group of aryl bromides. It is an intermediate in the synthesis of Murraya quinones, which are used as natural dyes. This compound has been shown to have antibacterial activity against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. The mechanism of action is not known, but it is believed that 2-Chloro-5-fluoroaniline may inhibit bacterial protein synthesis by binding to DNA or preventing the formation of ribosomes.
