2-Cyanopyrrole is a bioactive phytochemical with an exothermic reaction that is produced from the Friedel-Crafts reaction with trifluoromethanesulfonic acid. This compound has been shown to be a good model system for the study of anti-cancer drugs, as it can induce apoptosis in cancer cells by binding to their surface. 2-Cyanopyrrole also binds to antibodies and has microbicidal properties. It can reduce the toxicity of hydrochloric acid and inhibit its catalytic activity, which may lead to new methods for removing toxic substances from industrial waste water.
