Cimicifugoside M is a compound that has been found in the roots of Cimicifuga foetida. It has demonstrated insulin sensitizing effects and anticomplement activity, as well as an ability to reduce plasma glucose levels in diabetic animals. The mechanism of action of cimicifugoside M is not yet fully understood. However, it may be due to changes in insulin sensitivity or to anticomplement activity. This compound also possesses anti-cancer properties, which have been shown both on cultured cells and in animal models. Cimicifugoside M also exhibits antioxidant activities, reducing oxidative stress by scavenging reactive oxygen species and inhibiting lipid peroxidation and DNA damage.
Cimicifugoside M shows promise for use in the treatment of menopausal symptoms (e.g., hot flashes) and skin cancer (e.g., basal cell carcinoma). Additional research is needed to confirm these findings.br>br
