Descrição:4-Chloro-5-methylisatin is an analog of pyrrolidine. It has been shown to have antitumor activity, and has been shown to inhibit tumor cell growth in human cells by inhibiting the synthesis of DNA, RNA, and proteins. 4-Chloro-5-methylisatin is synthesized by condensation of methyl acetoacetate with acetaldehyde followed by bromination and pivaloylation. The compound inhibits the enzyme protein kinase C (PKC) by binding to its ATP binding site, which prevents PKC from phosphorylating tyrosine residues on other proteins.
