3-Chlorocinnamic acid is a chemical compound that belongs to the group of cinnamic acid derivatives. It has been shown to inhibit cellular proliferation and induce apoptosis in prostate carcinoma cells. 3-Chlorocinnamic acid also inhibits the growth of tuberculosis and epidermal growth factor (EGF) induced cell lines. This compound is an amide that can be used as a pharmaceutical intermediate. 3-Chlorocinnamic acid has been shown to have kinase activities on both pro-apoptotic protein and factor receptor, which may lead to cancer treatment.
