(E)-3-(2-Chlorophenyl)acryloyl chloride (ClCPC) is a neurotoxin that belongs to the class of phenylacrylic acid esters. It has been shown to have high neurotoxicity in animal models and produces convulsions, as well as sedation, ataxia, and death. ClCPC has also been shown to produce neurotoxic effects on the central nervous system when administered intracerebroventricularly or intraperitoneally. The toxicity of this compound is due to its ability to inhibit some enzyme activities, including acetylcholinesterase and butyrylcholinesterase.
