- Methanesulfonic Acid, 1,1,1-Trifluoro-, 2-Chlorophenyl Ester
2-Chlorophenyl trifluoromethanesulfonate is a chlorinated derivative of phenyl trifluoromethanesulfonate that has been shown to catalyze the methylation of an alkene. The mechanistic study of this reaction has been carried out using cross-coupling and reductive elimination. 2-Chlorophenyl trifluoromethanesulfonate can be used in the synthesis of substituted methylenecyclopropanes, which are used as ligands for transition metal complexes. The yields for this reaction are dependent on the nature of the substrate, with higher yields being obtained when the substrate is more reactive.
