- Silane, (2-chloroethyl)dimethoxymethyl-
2-Chloroethylmethyldimethoxysilane is a primary alcohol with a molecular weight of 192.2 g/mol. It has a kinetic and neutralized form, which can be synthesized by heating xylene with silicon in the presence of an amine or ammonia. 2-Chloroethylmethyldimethoxysilane is used to produce epoxy resins for use in devices, such as optical components and electronic parts. 2-Chloroethylmethyldimethoxysilane is also used as a reagent for the synthesis of chiral compounds and divalent metal ion complexes that are useful in organic chemistry. This compound has been shown to react at temperatures ranging from 0°C to 100°C.
