4-tert-Butyl-4'-methylbenzophenone is a pharmaceutical agent that is used in the treatment of inflammatory bowel disease. It has been shown to have vasoactive intestinal peptide (VIP) analog activity, as well as anti-inflammatory and antiallergic properties. 4-tert-Butyl-4'-methylbenzophenone is used for the treatment of ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease, which are chronic inflammatory diseases of the intestine. 4-tert-Butyl-4'-methylbenzophenone has also been shown to be effective for the treatment of neurological symptoms such as pain, insomnia, and depression. This drug can be synthesized by reacting 2 nitroimidazoles with a fatty acid in an organic solvent.
