1,5-Diphenyl-3-pentadienone is a polymer with an anhydrous sodium. It has been shown to inhibit the mitochondrial membrane potential in biological studies and also has pro-apoptotic protein binding activity. This compound is used as a model for the study of transfer reactions and biological properties. 1,5-Diphenyl-3-pentadienone can be synthesized from acetone and sodium salts by coordination geometry. The molecular structure of this compound includes intermolecular hydrogen bonding and dna binding activity.
