It has been shown to have anticancer activity against human cancer cells in vitro and in vivo. 2,4-Dimethylpyrrole-3-carboxylic acid is also able to inhibit nitrite production from the reaction of nitrite with amines. It binds to adenosine receptors and inhibits the growth of kidney cells. This compound may be useful in the treatment of cancer due to its pharmacokinetic properties and its ability to bind selectively to cancer cells.
