2,2-Dimethyl-1,3-dioxolane-4-carboxaldehyde is a chemical compound that is an enantiopure chlorinating agent. It is used in the synthesis of medicines and other organic compounds. This chemical compound has been shown to have antimicrobial properties and can be used to create antibiotics such as eperezolid. 2,2-Dimethyl-1,3-dioxolane-4-carboxaldehyde is also used in the synthesis of amides and other organic compounds. The reaction system for this compound is very sensitive to acidic conditions and requires a strong acid catalyst for successful completion of the reaction.
