Descrição:2-(3,4-Dimethoxyphenyl)acetohydrazide (2DMAH) is an alpha-amylase inhibitor that is used to treat type 2 diabetes. It has been shown to inhibit the activity of α-amylase in human pancreatic juice and serum. 2DMAH has a number of phenyl groups that are responsible for its inhibition of carbohydrate metabolism. The crystal x-ray diffraction profile of 2DMAH shows a single peak at around 5.5° angle, which is characteristic of phenyl rings. When 2DMAH is dissolved in sodium hydroxide solution, it modulates the neurotoxicity induced by methamphetamine and other amphetamine derivatives. This compound also inhibits the production of collagen and thiosemicarbazide, which may be beneficial for the treatment of cancerous tumors.
