4,4-Dimethyl-6-bromo-1,3-benzoxazine-2-one is a fatty acid ester that is reconstituted with an alcohol. It has been shown to be reactive in the presence of nucleophiles and can be used as a pharmaceutical preparation. 4,4-Dimethyl-6-bromo-1,3-benzoxazine-2-one has been found to cause insulin resistance in rats by increasing the expression of fatty acid synthase and inhibiting the activity of phosphatidylinositol 3 kinase. It also reduces the production of gamma aminobutyric acid (GABA) in humans. 4,4-Dimethyl-6-bromo-1,3 -benzoxazine 2 one has been shown to have antiinflammatory properties due to its inhibition of prostaglandin synthesis.
