Descrição:Diethyl acetylenedicarboxylate is a dicarboxylic acid that is used in wastewater treatment. It reacts with trifluoroacetic acid to form a stable complex. This compound has been shown to inhibit HIV infection by binding to the viral envelope protein gp120 and blocking the interaction with its receptor. Diethyl acetylenedicarboxylate also inhibits the growth of bacteria and fungi, as well as inhibiting the formation of skin lesions in mice infected with S. aureus. This compound also has antimicrobial properties due to its ability to react with metal carbonyls, such as copper or silver, which can be found on certain surfaces, such as copper coins or silverware.
