2,2-Difluoro-1,3-propanediol is a chemical compound that belongs to the group of propyls. The substance reacts violently with strong oxidizing agents such as sodium hydroxide or fluorine. It also reacts with water and tetrabutylammonium hydroxide to form hydrogen fluoride and hydrofluoric acid respectively. 2,2-Difluoro-1,3-propanediol reacts with sodium hydroxide to produce sodium fluoride and hydrogen gas. It reacts with potassium carbonate to produce potassium chloride and carbon dioxide gas. Finally, it reacts with potassium hydroxide to produce potassium fluoride and hydrogen gas.
