Descrição:1,3-Dimethoxy-2-propanol is an organic compound. It is a colorless liquid that can be synthesized from the reaction of acetaldehyde and propylene oxide in the presence of a base catalyst. The compound has been shown to be effective against human pathogens such as Salmonella typhi, Shigella flexneri, and Escherichia coli. 1,3-Dimethoxy-2-propanol has also been used in pharmaceutical formulations to treat diarrhoea and other gastrointestinal disorders. 1,3-Dimethoxy-2-propanol is often used as an analytical reagent for determining fatty acid content in animal tissue and assessing the quality of fats and oils. 1,3-Dimethoxy-2-propanol can be extracted from faeces or urine using a hydroxide solution or light emission.
