Kushenol E is a chemical extract from the soybean that has been shown to have anti-hepatitis effects. Kushenol E has been shown to inhibit the proliferation of liver cells in culture and to reduce the amount of liver enzymes, such as transaminases, in mice. Kushenol E also inhibits cyclic nucleotide phosphodiesterases and protects cells against oxidative damage by inhibiting lipid peroxidation. Kushenol E is a natural compound that is found in an extract from the Chinese herb Philippinensis (Polygonum multiflorum). This extract may be useful for treating metabolic disorders, such as obesity and diabetes. It may also be useful for treating Alzheimer's disease or Parkinson's disease due to its ability to inhibit autophagy and increase protein synthesis in mouse hippocampal cells.
