- Pyrido[2,3-B]Pyrazine, 2,3-Dichloro-
2,3-Dichloropyrido[2,3-b]pyrazine is a synthetic chemical compound that has been shown to be an effective inhibitor of the adenosine receptor. It is also a potent inhibitor of cellular proliferation and tumor growth. This drug has been used in cancer research and treatment as it is hydrophobic and can easily cross the blood-brain barrier. 2,3-Dichloropyrido[2,3-b]pyrazine binds to the adenosine receptor on the outside of cells and blocks the binding of adenosine molecules to this receptor. This prevents the activation of adenylate cyclase and subsequent production of cAMP which leads to cell death by apoptosis. 2,3-Dichloropyrido[2,3-b]pyrazine also inhibits cancer cell growth by inhibiting DNA synthesis through inhibition of protein synthesis.
