2,6-Diiodopyridine is a chiral compound that is used as a building block in organic synthesis. The functional theory of 2,6-diiodopyridine suggests that the molecule is an electron donor and ligand. It also has been shown to inhibit the activity of enzymes such as strain and pyridinium rings.
