4,5-Dimethyl-1H-pyrazol-3-amine is a cleavage product of 4,5-dimethoxybenzaldehyde in the presence of hydrogen chloride. It reacts with 2 equivalents of potassium tert-butoxide to produce phenylacetone and formaldehyde. 4,5-Dimethyl-1H-pyrazol-3-amine is used as a reactant in the manufacture of organic chemicals. This compound is also used as an alkylating agent to produce chlorinated hydrocarbons. It is also used as a ketonic reagent in the synthesis of various drugs such as benzodiazepines and barbiturates.
