- 2,4-Dichloropyridine-3-Carbaldehyde
2,4-Dichloronicotinaldehyde (2,4-DCNAL) is a synthetic tetracyclic compound that is used to treat rheumatoid arthritis and other autoimmune diseases. It has been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties in an animal model of arthritis. 2,4-DCNAL inhibits the production of inflammatory cytokines by blocking protein tyrosine kinase; it also inhibits the production of proinflammatory mediators. The chemical synthesis of 2,4-DCNAL is based on a Suzuki coupling reaction between a boronic ester and lactam to form an amide bond. This process is followed by cross-coupling with dichloronicotinoyl chloride to form the final product.
