6,6'-Dithiodinicotinic acid (DTDA) is a chemical compound that is used to treat skin cancer. It has been shown to be effective against infectious diseases such as tuberculosis and malaria. DTDA inhibits the growth of a variety of bacteria by binding to their DNA and preventing the synthesis of proteins. DTDA has also been shown to inhibit the growth of viruses, including HIV-1 and herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV-1). The use of DTDA may have clinical benefits for patients with chronic pain caused by nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs or for patients with mitochondrial dysfunction.
