This inhibition leads to an increase in the levels of homologous aldehydes, which are oxidized by hydrogen peroxide to produce electrosprays. 3,5-Dichloro-4-pyridinecarboxaldehyde also has a number of oxidation products that have been found in experiments using purines as substrates.
