Descrição

1,2-Diacetylbenzene is an aromatic hydrocarbon that has been shown to cause axonopathy in animals. The mechanism underlying this effect is not well understood, but may involve cytosolic protein and fatty acid metabolism. 1,2-Diacetylbenzene also causes a decrease in the energy metabolism of cells by inhibiting the activity of kinesin. This chemical has been shown to be toxic to human serum and animal tissues as well as urine samples. It also causes DNA fragmentation and cell death in Sprague-Dawley rats.
