Dichlorodicarbonylbis(triphenylphosphine)ruthenium(II) is a metal-organic framework that contains the elements osmium, carbon and phosphorus. It has been shown to be a potent catalyst for the hydrogenation of aldehydes and ketones. Dichlorodicarbonylbis(triphenylphosphine)ruthenium(II) stabilizes carbonyl compounds by reducing them to form alcohols or carboxylic acids. This compound can also be used in x-ray crystallography, as it can be readily crystallized with high purity. The isomers of dichlorodicarbonylbis(triphenylphosphine)ruthenium(II) are different from each other because of their different relative orientation of the carbonyl group.
