This compound has been shown to be toxic to human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) and murine leukemia in vitro. It has also been shown to inhibit the growth of bacteria in culture by blocking their DNA synthesis. 2,6-Dimethylanisole has a molecular weight of 208.22 g/mol, a boiling point of 275 °C at 760 mmHg, and a density of 1.05 g/mL at 20 °C.
