Dieckol is a natural compound that has inhibitory properties on the formation of body fat. It has been shown to inhibit the 3T3-L1 preadipocyte differentiation process, which is important for the accumulation of body fat. Dieckol also has a variety of biological activities such as anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects. Dieckol is able to counteract reactive oxygen species (ROS) that are generated by the mitochondria, which may be due to its ability to increase mitochondrial membrane potential. This drug was developed from a polyphenolic compound found in the bark extract of Diospyros kaki. It is an analytical method used for evaluating enzyme activity in bioactive phenolic compounds as well as polymerase chain reactions.
