Dapaconazole is an antifungal agent that has been used in the treatment of tinea cruris. The drug binds to ergosterol, which is a component of the fungal cell membrane, and causes leakage of cellular contents. Dapaconazole also exhibits a high therapeutic index and has a low potential for drug interactions when taken with other drugs. Dapaconazole may be administered as an ointment or cream and is not absorbed into the bloodstream if applied topically to the skin. This drug may cause some side effects, such as gastrointestinal discomfort or rash, but these are generally mild and transient.
