Diethylmalonic acid is an organic compound that belongs to the family of inorganic acids. It has a carbonyl group and two hydroxyl groups, which make it a bioactive phytochemical. Diethylmalonic acid has been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties. The molecule has been shown to inhibit cyclooxygenase-1 (COX-1) and COX-2 enzymes, which are responsible for the production of prostaglandins. Diethylmalonic acid also forms stable complexes with hydrogen bonds and solid catalysts.
