Descrição:N,N-Diethyl-1-naphthylamine is an aminating agent that can be used in the synthesis of a variety of compounds. It is typically used to convert a primary or secondary amine into an amide. In the reaction, N,N-diethyl-1-naphthylamine reacts with an alcohol to form an exciplex and then reacts with water to form a nitrate salt. This reaction is mediated by acid or base. The transfer of electrons from the carbonyl group to the nitrate ion results in oxidation of the carbonyl group and formation of a nitrate salt. The oxidant may be oxygen gas or nitric acid.
