N-Decylaminoethanol is an antitubercular agent that inhibits bacterial growth by binding to the beta-galactosyl residues in the cell wall of mycobacteria. It has been shown to be effective against Mycobacterium tuberculosis and Mycobacterium avium complex. N-Decylaminoethanol is a lipid-soluble compound that can cross the blood-brain barrier. It also has antibacterial activity against Gram-positive bacteria such as Staphylococcus aureus, Enterococcus faecalis, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. N-Decylaminoethanol has been found to inhibit bacterial growth by blocking the synthesis of glycosylated proteins, which are important for cell wall synthesis.
