Dehydro epinastine hydrochloride (DHEN) is a benzodiazepinone that binds to the receptor tyrosine, inhibiting the enzyme activity of tyrosine kinase and preventing cancer cell growth. DHEN has been shown to have significant anti-inflammatory activity in animal models with chronic inflammation by inhibiting the production of prostaglandin E2. DHEN also inhibits the production of nitric oxide, which may be responsible for its anti-inflammatory properties. DHEN can be used as an alternative to diazepam because it has similar inhibitory properties but is more potent and less toxic than diazepam.
