L-N,N-Dibenzylphenylalanine benzyl ester is an alcohol that is used as a chiral synthetic intermediate for pharmaceuticals and medicinal use. This compound has been shown to be a potent nucleophile in reactions with amides and other nucleophiles. L-N,N-Dibenzylphenylalanine benzyl ester can also be used as a solvent additive. L-N,N-Dibenzylphenylalanine benzyl ester has been modified to produce l-phenylalanine derivatives that are of interest in the development of drugs for cancer treatment.
