• Descrição: Diethylthiocarbamoyl chloride (DTCA) is a bicyclic heterocycle that inhibits the activity of enzymes. It has been shown to have antimicrobial and anticancer properties. DTCA binds to carbon disulphide, which is an intermediate in the metabolism of thiamin. This binding inhibits the synthesis of thiamin, leading to a deficiency of this vitamin in the body and subsequent metabolic disorders. DTCA has also been shown to inhibit proteolytic enzymes, such as elastase and trypsin, which are involved in inflammatory bowel disease. The nitrogen atoms on the molecule may act as a potential drug target for treatment of inflammatory bowel disease.
