NG,NG'-Dimethyl-L-arginine di(p-hydroxyazobenzene-p'-sulfonate) salt is an inhibitor of the renin angiotensin system that has been shown to increase renal blood flow and glomerular filtration rate. It has been studied in clinical trials for the treatment of chronic kidney disease and renal transplantation. NG,NG'-Dimethyl-L-arginine di(p-hydroxyazobenzene-p'-sulfonate) salt may be a potential therapy for patients with congestive heart failure because it improves energy efficiency and can reduce high blood pressure. This drug also has a potential use as a weight loss agent by decreasing body mass index, which is associated with linear models.
