2,2-Di(2-tetrahydrofuryl)propane is a protonated form of 2,2-dihydrofuryl alcohol. It is used as a modifier in the synthesis of functionalized styrenes or styrene derivatives. The protonated form of 2,2-di(2-tetrahydrofuryl)propane has been shown to minimize the deformation and strain induced by the base and to provide thermally stable organometallic morphologies. The protonated form also minimizes the interaction between the base and the product molecules.
