Descrição:Dimethyl malonate is a steric inhibitor of DNA replication and repair. It inhibits the reactions by binding to the hydroxyl group of malonic acid, which is a key component in the replication process. Dimethyl malonate is used as an additive to prevent ischemia-reperfusion injury in animals. The sodium salts are added to make it less toxic for mammals and more soluble in water. Dimethyl malonate has also been shown to inhibit bacterial growth by preventing the production of ATP and by inhibiting protein synthesis. This chemical also has structural properties that can be used for wastewater treatment or its use as a structural analysis agent.
