2,2-Dimethyl-propionamidine hydrochloride is a diluent with an unknown chemical structure. It has been shown to have no anticancer activity in animals and to be a weak inhibitor of inflammatory diseases. 2,2-Dimethyl-propionamidine hydrochloride is also used as a chrysanthemic acid substituent in the preparation of imidazole derivatives. It is commonly found in pesticides such as cyhalothrin and phosphonates, where it serves as a counterion. The deuterated form of 2,2-dimethylpropionic acid has been used extensively in nuclear magnetic resonance studies to investigate the mechanism of drug action on cancer cells.
2,2-Dimethyl-propionamidine hydrochloride is not toxic and does not react with chlorine or nitrogen atoms.
