3,3'-Dicarboxybenzidine is a diphenyl ether that undergoes cyclodehydration to form glyoxal. 3,3'-Dicarboxybenzidine can be transformed into chloride through the reaction with phosphorus pentoxide. This compound is also capable of undergoing a number of chemical reactions, including the conversion of amines to nitrates and hydroscopic properties. 3,3'-Dicarboxybenzidine has two functional groups: an anthranilic group and a diamino group.
