Doxorubicin is a drug that is used in the treatment of cancer. It binds to DNA and RNA, causing double-stranded breaks and inhibiting protein synthesis. Doxorubicin also inhibits the activity of anhydrase, an enzyme involved in glycolysis. Doxorubicin has been shown to have anticancer activity in vitro and in vivo. The drug has been shown to be effective against many types of cancer cells, including breast cancers, leukemia, lymphomas, and sarcomas. In addition, doxorubicin can bind to retinoic acid receptors on the surface of cancer cells which leads to cell death by apoptosis.
