2,3-Dibromopyridine is a chemical compound that is used to synthesize sodium nitrate. It has shown to be effective in the treatment of chronic bronchitis by reducing blood pressure and inhibiting the production of amyloid protein. 2,3-Dibromopyridine also reacts with sodium hydroxide solution to produce hydroxylamine, which is then reacted with ammonia gas to form hydroxynitrous acid. This chemical can replace sodium hydroxide solution in the metathesis reaction and increase the yield of the reaction product. The x-ray absorption spectrum for 2,3-dibromopyridine has been determined using a mercury lamp and an X-ray detector. The reaction yield for this chemical was found to be 95%.
