1,4-Dihydro-1,4-epoxynaphthalene is an aromatic compound that can be obtained by the ring-opening of a 1,4-dioxane. It has two isomers: 1,2-dihydro-1,2-epoxybenzene and 1,3-dihydro-1,3-epoxybenzene. The reaction rate of this molecule is relatively low. It can be used to synthesize dimethyl acetylenedicarboxylate with a reaction rate of five times higher than 1,4-dihydro-1,4 epoxynaphthalene. The crystallography and nmr spectra of this molecule have been determined. Reaction products are found in the form of silicon dioxide and silicon monoxide. This molecule has been found to be nucleophilic in kinetic studies.br>br>
