This drug also inhibits the production of cancer cells by blocking their ability to grow and divide.2-Diethylaminoethanethiol hydrochloride is used in conjunction with 3-mercaptopropionic acid, which prevents the drug from being metabolized by plasma esterases, thereby increasing its potency and efficacy. 2-Diethylaminoethanethiol hydrochloride also reacts with fluorine gas to form a highly reactive compound that damages DNA in cells.
