1,6-Dibromododecafluorohexane is a chlorofluorocarbon that reacts with tetrahydrofuran to form 1,6-dibromohexafluoroethylene. It can undergo a number of reactions including the hydrosilylation reaction. This reaction produces 1,6-dibromododecafluorohexane in an isolated yield and has been shown to be reactive with iodides and silicon. The temperature required for this reaction is between -10°C and 20°C. The product from this reaction is 1,6-dibromohexafluoroethylene.
