Informação sobre produto
- 2,5-Dibromo-3-laurylthiophene
2,5-Dibromo-3-dodecylthiophene is a polymerization agent that is used in the preparation of polymers. It is a cross-coupling agent that reacts with an alcohol (generally methanol or ethanol) to form a symmetric alcohol. This reaction takes place in the presence of a base such as sodium ethoxide in an inert solvent such as tetrahydrofuran. The 2,5-dibromo-3-dodecylthiophene can be prepared by reacting hexane and chloroform with magnesium and bromine. The reaction takes place at high temperature (150°C). The resultant product is then filtered from the reaction mixture and purified by evaporative distillation or by recrystallization from hexane or chloroform.
