Descrição:Dibutyl maleate is a chemical that is used in the treatment of wastewater. It is a glycol ether and an alkanoic acid. Dibutyl maleate has been shown to be effective at removing p-hydroxybenzoic acid from water samples. The compound reacts with the p-hydroxybenzoic acid to form an ester and glycol, which can be removed from the solution by extraction with organic solvents. Dibutyl maleate has also been found to have high resistance against human serum, making it useful for sample preparation prior to analysis by gas chromatography or mass spectrometry.
